Relationship to the Society:
RSCJ

As the Provincial Treasurer of the St. Louis Province in the late 1970’s,  I met with the other religious treasurers of the congregations in Region X of LCWR on a regular basis exploring best practices together and sharing our experience of administration with one another.

In those years we were all wrestling with a desire to do something for Justice and Peace with the investments that our Congregations held. We were very conscious of not holding investments in Corporations that were engaged in policies that were obviously contrary to our values. But we also realized that this had little influence to bring about awareness or change. We wanted to collaborate together and bring our critical mass to the effort but we needed professional guidance. We were clearly not experts in this area or even attracted to this sort of public stance but, by reason of our position, we strongly felt that we had a unique responsibility to take some action.
