While Peggy was working at the Rosary in New Orleans, LA, in the 1980's she visited a Louisiana immigration detention center so she could subsequently teach Catholic social justice doctrine on migration with more firsthand experience and include migrants' stories. During her time in Washington, DC,  she also used to personally drive Stone Ridge students to Sursum Corda Village on a weekly basis so that they could tutor the children who lived there.
