For Maria Teresa, work in the justice ministries provided a time of expansion of mind and heart. Maria Teresa was born in Colombia and in 1953 answered a call to the United States. In 1969 she was instrumental in the beginning of the Spanish Center in Albany. From 1984 until 2001, she worked in pastoral care and family services with the Little Sisters of the Assumption in East Harlem. She wrote in 1988: “My ministry is based on home visitation bringing Communion, praying and spending time with the sick and the elderly.” To learn more about Maria Teresa's life, click on the link under her picture.
