While working at Creighton University in the 1980s, Muriel began going on immersion projects with undergrads and saw the life-changing effects they had on some students. In the mid 80's she worked with Maureen Glavin, Imma DeStefanis and others in the RSCJ Vocation Office to create similar immersion experiences for Sacred Heart students. These projects served as the the precursors to the Network Summer Service Projects.
Creighton also sent Muriel to the Dominican Republic every summer for twelve years as a pastoral resource and staff person for the Institute of Latin American Concern (ILAC). In the 1998, while she was living and working with migrants in LaBelle, Florids, Muriel led an immersion experience in the Dominican Republic for Network Faculty.
After Hurricane Katrina, in 2006, Muriel and other RSCJ responded by creating Duchesne House for Volunteers in New Orleans where Muriel served for three years. Read more about Muriel's ministries by clicking on the links under her picture.
