I co-founded, with Ali Golchin, SOFIA Immigration Services in 1995 in response to the Act of Hope.  The mission SOFIA Immigration Services is to provide low cost or Pro Bono services to the poor and marginalized. SOFIA strives to be a prophetic voice on behalf of immigrants, migrants and abused women and children.  SOFIA enables families of different races and nationalities to remain united and obtain legal immigration documentation.  We were accredited by Immigration and the board of Immigration Review in 1996. We won 97 per cent of cases.  We only took cases that we could help, feeling it unfair to take money from those who had no case.  We did our best to help anyone.
